Because every single kayak is designed differently, it’s impossible to create a single mount that fits them all. (Believe us, we’ve tried!) If you have a very small suitable surface area in front of your seat on which to attach a mount, or you’ve reviewed our other mounts and none seem to be the right fit, there’s a good chance one of these bases, all by RAM Mounts, will do the trick. Each mount works in conjunction with a RAM Spline Post Adapter, a support post and a clevis fork, which holds the weight of the Versa Paddle or Gamut Paddle Holder system.
Many of these mounts work with our Twin Track Mount, using t-nuts that slide into the tracks and tighten in place. Using these base mounts in conjunction with a set of tracks, as shown in the photo above, will disperse the torque on the support post over a greater surface area. Since each base has a different width, be sure to check your kayak dimensions to purchase the one with the best fit. In some cases, you can attach the base directly to your kayak or in conjunction with another mount configuration, such as our Apex Mount.

Custom Base Mounts
The Dual T-Bolt Track Base for Spline Posts is our standard base mount that's included if you purchase any of our systems with the Twin Track Mount. Compatible with the RAM Tough-Tracks, it features two knobs and a hole that allows for the attachment of any RAM spline post. The hole pattern is 3.5" wide.
The Dual T-Bolt Track Base with Release Button by RAM is our second most popular option, and can be swapped out with the standard base that normally comes with the Twin Track Mount set up. It's compatible with the spline adapter post and RAM® Tough-Tracks™ . It comes with dual t-bolts with tightening knobs and has a quick-release mechanism to easily remove the support post and spline. The hole pattern is 3.75" wide.
The RAM ROD Bulkhead/Flat Surface Base can be installed on a flat surface such as the deck, or added to our Apex Mount for additional heigh. This mounting base features a locking feature which requires the release of a plunger to remove the spline and support post. It has a 3.25" wide hold pattern but does not come with t-bolts or tightening knobs.
The Deck Base includes a socket compatible with our RAM spline post adapter. It can be screwed down or used with track systems that have a 3.25" width. Note that this product does not come with t-bolts or knobs needed to tighten this base down.
