INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS
QUICK TIPS
On dry land, loosely fit the mount on the kayak before drilling and add the Gamut or Versa
Sit in the kayak to find the best distance of the mount and paddle from your torso
Secure the hinged plate as straight as possible on the front coaming for best alignment
Don't put your weight on the mount when getting in or out
Avoid leaving the mount "flipped open" which puts strain on the hinged plate
QUICK TIPS
Loosely rest the mount on the kayak, keeping sticky cup backings on, and insert the support post and Gamut or Versa
Sit in the kayak to find the best distance of the mount from your torso
Check the overall height. If it's too high, you can cut the support post or contact us to swap for a different length
Clean your kayak well before applying sticky cups and avoid taking them on and off repeatedly
Press down in the middle of the sticky cups, then run your finger around the perimeter for the best seal
QUICK TIPS
Loosely set the tracks and base mount on the kayak, insert the support post and add the Gamut or Versa
Sit in the kayak to find the best distance of the mount from your torso
Check the overall height. If it's too high or too low, you can contact us to swap it out for a different length
Be gentle with the support post so as not to over-torque it and stress the installation points

CUSTOM MOUNTS
QUICK TIPS
Always choose the mount that provides the highest stability rating that will fit your kayak
View the video below to see examples of available custom mounts
Read this blog post which shows other examples custom mounts our customers have created
Consider adding additional bracing to your custom mount to keep the support post stabilized

STABILIZING OUTRIGGERS
QUICK TIPS
Temporarily place the outriggers far enough behind (or in rare cases, in front of) the cockpit - usually as far back as possible for optimal stability
On dry land, sit in the kayak and do a few practice strokes to ensure the outriggers don't interfere with the paddle stroke
Make sure you can reach your hand/arm far enough inside the kayak to tighten the nuts to the bolts that secure the stabilizing brackets before you settle on the placement (you might do this through a hatch opening or an open space behind the seat)

J BAR ROOF RACKS
QUICK TIPS
Make sure you have horizontal cross bars
When using the J Bar racks, add bow and stern straps for additional security on the road
Check to see if you have hood and trunk loops for the bow and stern lines; if not, consider picking up hood loops
Secure the loose ends of the straps to minimize flapping and/or the vibrational “singing” that can occur from the wind
